Fort Bend County OEM Awarded for Using PIER During Hurricane Ike and H1N1 Response

Fort Bend County Office of Emergency Management (Fort Bend County, Texas) has been recognized with an "Excellence in Emergency Management" Award for their use of the PIER System during Hurricane Ike and the H1N1 response in the spring and summer of 2009.

Fort Bend County OEM was praised for their use of PIER's innovative web technology to organize and facilitate regional communications between 5 PIER centers in Fort Bend County, and over 30 in the Houston-Galveston region—all PIER centers in the region are networked together to allow collaborative communication during a disaster.

Fort Bend County's use of PIER shows how the system can be used to efficiently coordinate communications across a large county or region.
