PIER adds two new engineers in technical development
Richard Taylor and Kevin Byford bring with them insight, experience and loads of expertise

BELLINGHAM, WA – May 1, 2008 – PIER Systems, Inc., leading provider of the online public information software, announced today the addition of two new engineers in product and development and quality assurance.

Richard Taylor will serve as Sr. Software Engineer
Richard Taylor joins the company as Senior Software Engineer. In this capacity, Taylor will implement software solutions that will help streamline and enhance PIER as a critical online communications platform.

“As a company, PIER has a very talented group of individuals, a unique product, and a solid customer base.  These attributes can only mean good things for the future of the company.   The potential for growth in this market is very promising and I look forward to being a part of it,” said Taylor.

He is quick to add that Bellingham's unmatched appeal makes for a great place to live and work – echoing PIER Systems commitment to the local community as opposed to more metro locations to run its core operations.

Taylor's background consists of work on robust enterprise management and integration applications, as well as various forms of web development for the past 8 years. Prior to joining PIER, Taylor was a software engineer for Attachmate.

PIER Hires Kevin Byford as Quality Assurance Engineer
Taylor won’t be the only new face at PIER’s headquarters. Joining him as the company’s new Quality Assurance Engineer is Kevin Byford. Hailing from DIS Corporation, Byford will take the lead in systems administration on PIER’s production and backup servers as well as creating a test framework for PIER.

“I look forward to this position since it involves many of the technologies I enjoy working with and I am eager to tackle a variety of tasks within the system,” said Byford. With over ten years of experience in quality assurance, Byford also notes that PIER Systems will give him an opportunity to expand on his expertise and work at the forefront of an innovative community.

“We have spent a lot of time this year putting together a team that will help us deliver a product that will provide the best possible communications solution s and ensure that our customers are perpetually satisfied with that platform,” said PIER Technical Services Director Kevin Boxx. “If you look at our development team, you will see that we are extremely fortunate to have engineers that are exceptionally talented and dedicated to that task.”

PIER is unparalleled in providing a web-based communication management platform that addresses all key communication functions, including web content management, information creation, multi-mode distribution, including telephone call-out and text messaging, plus advanced inquiry management. The system enables communicators to work together effectively from any Internet connection, an offering that is particularly useful with a dispersed communications and executive team. Since the technology’s creation, PIER has been widely adopted in the oil, energy and shipping industries, by federal agencies such as the US Coast Guard and the USDA, and by industrial and commercial companies such as Boeing, Allstate and Albertson’s. Additionally, major universities such as the University of North Carolina and the University of Houston have begun using the technology, as have many local and state government agencies, including multi-agency emergency management jurisdictions in Texas and Georgia.
