Sabena Hayes joins PIER Systems as a project manager for the company’s Atlanta area implementation efforts

ATLANTA, GA – April 14, 2008 – PIER Systems, Inc., a leading provider in public communication software, today announced that Sabena Hayes will join the company as a project manager for the company’s Atlanta area operations. She will work to build the growing network of PIER users in the Atlanta Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Region.

Hayes comes to PIER following an extensive consulting background in the information systems technology field. She has spent the last 20 years working in advanced network technologies, software development and project management.

"Sabena is enormously talented, with a great record of work in tech-related industries," said Holly Hinman, from PIER's Implementation and Strategic Services group. "With her combined background and interest in PIER's mission, she is a great fit for our Atlanta implementation efforts."

“Becoming a part of PIER’s team is more than just a career move for me, I see it as a chance to give back to the community,” Hayes said. “PIER has so much potential to help organizations in crisis situations; it’s a chance to help develop an already innovative field in times where effective communication is a quintessential part of maintaining security.”

Originally from Chicago, the last 8 years of Hayes’ career has been spent in Atlanta where she has worked with major tech companies including Hewlett Packard, Inovis, and Bright Byte Consulting in product development and IT management.

The Atlanta UASI region received grant funding by the Homeland Security Department, some of which was used for their PIER expansion. The funds are used to address various homeland security needs within the region, in alignment with the goals and objectives identified in the Urban Area Homeland Security Strategy and State Homeland Security Strategy. The ability to offer interoperable communications has been identified as a state, regional and national overarching priority, resulting in a significant amount of interest among UASI decision makers.
